Healthpoint has been profiling a comprehensive list of healthcare and other related services for the Northern Region Cancer Network since early in 2011.
Healthpoint was commissioned by the then Northern DHB Support Agency (NDSA) to set-up and profile these services and ensure the services information in this directory were regularly reviewed and updated over time.
The services included accommodation options, aged care services, aids and equipment, supportive health services, alternative, complementary and traditional medicine and therapies, cancer research, cancer organisations, disability support, cultural support, exercise and relaxation, hospice and palliative care services, Accessories, nursing support, counselling services and transport amongst others.
This one place to find information on cancer and related services supports patients, care-providers and families to find what is available to support them, in times of need. The services themselves provide the information to ensure its accuracy. Healthpoints editorial and review process ensures it is reviewed over time and this has kept it sustainable over the last 7 years.
This is especially important as each month somewhere between 17,000 – 20,000 people look at this Northern Cancer Network information.
